She Took The Money Instead Of Her Dream Job

One of the last real jobs I worked outside of writing was back in 2010 or 2011. I was a bill collector making 200 calls a day to people who were in debt. I would say it was ironic that I was also in serious debt at that time, but that was the reality for many people working on that team so my experience wasn’t unique.

As much as I resented that job, I started getting good at it and the managers upgraded me to better contracts. That also meant I moved desks and got to sit beside all the best collectors in the company, including Danielle.
